Quintin Laing led the way with 2 goals and 2 assists as the Hershey Bears improved their record to 27-8-3-4, 61 points. The win pulled them back into a tie for first place in the East Division with idle Norfolk. Dave Steckel also added 2 goals and Tomas Fleichmann had 2 assists as the Bears won in their first home game of the new year in front of 9,383 fans at the Giant Center. River Rats' goalie Justin Peters had a short day as he was pulled at the 16:24 mark of the first period after allowing three goals on five shots. His counterpart Maxime Daigneault stopped 21 of 24 shots for his 12th win of the season.
