Capitals/Islanders Recap

Well this is an easy one. The special teams decided the game with the Islanders going 3-5 on the PP plus a short-handed goal late, while the Caps were 0-6 on the PP. Hmmm.... how long until we put Glen Hanlon and his coaching staff on the hot seat??? (Photo courtesy of Haraz N. Ghanbari/AP)

The Capitals Power Play = Not So Special Teams.

1) The personnel have changed, but the PP style/tactics have not. Its now clear the problem are NOT the players, but the coach!
2) A carear minor leaguer(Motzko) gets prime PP and 1st line duty? Did we miss something here??

I really don't think it's time to put Hanlon on the hot seat (apparently the majority of poll respondents disagree...). He's done a good job the last couple years with very little talent. True, there were a few consecutive games where the team looked abysmal, but he isn't the one failing to put away chances, letting puck slip under his pads and into the net or deciding Tomas Fleichmann is a good enough bet to not get a top six right winger in the offseasn. Hanlon's built a reputation for getting his team to play hard and I don't think its fair to threaten his job because he's 3-4 with a new team, most of the time missing a potential 40 goal scorer he had been counting on.
