Tom Poti Signs with Washington

Well, as the saying goes you can never have too many defenseman. The Capitals this afternoon signed Tom Poti to 4 year $14 million contract. The 10 year veteran is a solid two way player to go along with his ability to quarterback the power play. Even though it seems like he has been around forever, Poti is still only 30 years old and should have plenty of solid hockey still in his future. He is coming off of a season in which he tallied 6 goals and 38 assists in 78 games, all but 12 of those assists coming on the power play.

The signing will create more competition on the backline between the Capitals prospects, which is never a bad thing.
